This is a problem between you and your co-author. You cannot blame the editorial board for this. The only way to solve this is by discussing with your co-author.

I totally agree with you Dr. Wolfgang R. Dick , but I personally thought that idea would work during my graduation in

April, May, June and July 2022. But then I discovered I'd been just scammed and forced to apply for a PhD

position at that research group, let me just say it clearly and without any hesitation please! to be like a

publishing *slave*. I can't be giving more than 5 articles to him but he does not contribute to them or even

criticise my work so I can improve it, and eventually, I discover that he has been promoted to a higher position

(from assistant to associate prof.). When I contacted the journal editor they mentioned that I have a previous

paper still in review and need to answer reviewers' comments and modify it since 2021 June. However, until now I've not

seen any of this feedback so I can answer it, despite this advisor never mentioning it to me between 2019-2022.

I remember my paper came back from the SEG-Geophysics journal in March 2022, and then modified it and first sent it to him

via personal chatting apps then he appreciated it well and liked it and then I resubmitted to applied geophysics after his consent.

After one week of submission, they contacted him and he sent me a message that the paper is accepted and will

be in the June issue probably June 2022. Now I found out that with all these comments, confusion and not accepting my paper I

feel I've been racially abused and misused by my past supervisor without getting any real advanced progress in my career.

This is a very frustrating situation. I recommend to discuss your problem with another member of the faculty or an experienced scientist. If your university has an ombudsperson or a commission for ethics of scientific work or something like that, you may also contact them.

Actually, I personally afraid of loosing even my MSc certification, if I talk about this problem, here in China there's nothing like you've mentioned. Matter of fact, this is the first time I talk about the issue, since it happened last year between April-June 2022. And to be very honest the story has another dimenssion, as I faced real racial abuse in Oct 2019 (describing me as a monkey) from their students in social media, but non of those professors nor the college of international eduacation whom nominated me for that master program, made any actions or did anything.

I agree with Dr Wolfgang R. Dick that this is a very complicated and frustrating situation. It seems your co-author has been not very straightforward with you and not very helpful to you. I wonder if they did something similar to other people that they supervise. This is very unfortunate.

An independent person or authority - like Dr Dick has suggested - may have further good advice. I would definitely try to get help from them.

Dear Dr @Joseph Regarding doing same to other students I’m his first international graduate student and I’ve a country mate who spent 5 years at that university doing PhD but eventually left it without graduating. He faced the simliar issues and when I knew about his story I analyzed his situation and worked very hard to avoid it eventually I successfully avoided it except the publishing dilemma. I am now helpless! however I’m focusing at the moment on publishing those papers I generated during my MSc period in other journal(s). He is just being very harmful for my future P.hD. applications unfortunately!. Now he published it with his new master student look how awful dishonesty of those dudes at China University of Petroleum (East China) department of Geophysics are, I can‘t imagine such a bullshit academia more than this even I'm the one who submitted it in 2021 Dec. and I still have all relevants, email on my university email account, to this journal.
