So far I only read about PCR testings to confirm a patients infection. Is somebody aware of other diagnostical testing options? E.g. for EBV (Ebstein Barr Virus) exists a serology testing method called EBNA-IgG. Are there any testings of IgM or IgG serologies for Covid-19 so far to get an idea how the immune system of infected patients really reacts. And if you have the possibility, how far away is a vaccine? And if a patient has positiv IgG does that mean, that she/he is healthy and not being infective again like it is in EBV? A vaccine for the Covid-19 virus will be released soon. The new vaccine, developed by the biotechnology company Moderna Therapeutics, does not contain the virus that triggers COVID-19, as a conventional vaccine might. Instead, Moderna researchers used a new technique to make messenger RNA (mRNA), which is similar to mRNA found in SARS-CoV-2. In theory, the artificial mRNA will act as instructions that prompt human cells to build a protein found on the surface of the virus. That protein would theoretically trigger a protective immune response. Standard vaccines work similarly but use a dead or weak virus as their base, forgoing the process of constructing viral proteins from scratch.
Designing the vaccine to work in this way allowed Moderna to fast-track the development process, as the company did not need to isolate and modify live samples of SARS-CoV-2 as it would for a more conventional vaccine, according to a report by Kaiser Permanente. Thank you Maurice for your answer. It seems there are several companies that use this production way. My thesis had the topic "Multiple genetic immunization in murine system", it showed, that the immune response of a mouse immunsystem reacts the same way with one genetic vaccine via gene gun or with 5. I did the thesis with University Freiburg and with genovac (2004 until 2006), a company that is specialized in genetic immunization and especially antibody production. Probably it would be a good idea for vaccine producing companies to get in contact with such companies in the scientific field, to share knowledge, if they do not already do.
And another interesting point: Vaccines so far often use aluminium, which is in my opinion no real need. As an ENT I do a lot of hyposensitation in allergy patients, and there are vaccines to reduce allergy reactions to pollen with the basis of tyrosin and they work perfectly well. I know, that is another question, but is there any reason why common vaccines do not change from aluminium to tyrosin?
