Anyone in the community has experience using the Santec SLM-200? It is a phase-only SLM and comes with a wavefront correction file to correct for the non-uniformity of the substrate.

When I uploaded the wavefront correction pattern (Mod 2Pi pattern displaying gray_scale in value from 0 to 1024) using their GUI, I saw the pattern on the beam like this (filename: wavefront_correct_SLM200-GUI). I am confused as I thought it will actually correct for the non-flatness of the phase-front and therefore when I upload the pattern the beam reflected from the SLM should be nearly Gaussian, like a normal mirror.

But when I try to upload the same file via their SDK in Matlab using their Disp_Data, it gave a completely different pattern on the beam which looks more like flat, as in the second file.

I would appreciate if anyone can shed some light on this. At the moment I am using this wavefront correction is the way that if I want to upload a pattern X on the SLM, then the final gray_scale array is Mod(X + wavefront_correction, 1024), is that correct?

Thank you for your help.
