We receive samples from different vendors from mouse studies. For the sample taken in life, some vendors can't tell us what volume is in the tube since it would take too much time to note every single volume. We know how much blood they take, but after clotting and centrifugation, they can not predict how much serum is going to be produced. For Sample Management and inventory purposes, I would like to put that information so that each time someone uses the sample we can subtract the volume taken and evaluate how much is left when we plan an experiment. I thought about following the scientist who thaw the sample for the first time and note the volume while it's thawed, but I was wondering if someone had thought of a better and more time efficient solution? Thanks for the help!
