I am struggling with this idea of root:shoot ratio, I have calculated my ratios and found that for my vegetables the ratio on my control is 0.0277 ( which is around 1:36) but some of my treatments are having ratios of 1:31 (0.033). My problem now is that I don't know what to make of this information, as two of my other treatmens are very close to the ratio of control and gave me pretty good above ground biomass while the control had little above ground biomass and little roots. So do I consider that the treatments with root:shoot ratios close to the control are the ones that grow effectively as they have high above ground yields and high below ground biomass (i.e Swiss chard is and cabbage are my test crops)?
