I am planning to introduce this technique in my lab, for that I need to gather all the essentials information before proposing this technique, and I have two questions regarding that:
1) What kind of Detection system in RNAscope would researchers in your lab prefer Chromogen detection or fluorescent detection and why??
2) How much is the approx price for RNAscope target probe and how much if you custom design any probe?

Chromogen detection for RNAScope. It is definitely better and cheaper . As Laurence replied.
Our lab has been successful with RNAScope. I like the fluorescent detection, in particular, RNAscope® Multiplex Fluorescent v2 as it has multiplex capability so that you can see multiple mRNA targets (up to 3-4 targets) on a single tissue section. According to ACD, for FFPE, they offer either chromogen or this fluorescent v2. If you choose your target probe from their inventory, it would be $500 or something. If you need to do custom design, you might need to pay additional a few hundred bucks. RNAscope kit is not cheap so that I would make a circle with hydrophilic pen as small as possible in order to save reagents and $$.
