I am asking you this question, because the sea turtle skin samples that I have, are small in size and therefore limited for several analysis (PhD analysis). Most of the samples are stored in RNAlater at -80ºC. Could the storage in RNAlater later interfere with these analyses? If so, what procedures or steps prior to these analyses should I perform? Thank you!
Inês Morão since the RNAlater solution is non-toxic (Ammonium Sulfate, odium Citrate, and EDTA) it doesn't harm the subsequent POPs analysis. But the time period and half-life of stored POPs should be taken into consideration before long-term preservation.
