Does anyone know if you can keep the different parts of an assembly separate after running topology optimization on it in Abaqus?
All three parts of my assembly merge to one after I optimize the assemply but I would like to export them separately to 3D print and test the assembly experimentally.

Ines Ortea yes, after running topology optimization in Abaqus, it is possible to keep distinct assembly parts separate. When optimizing an assembly in Abaqus, the different parts of the assembly can merge into one due to the optimization process. To export them separately for 3D printing and experimental testing, define the different parts of the assembly as separate components or parts before running the optimization process, beside, after the optimization is complete, you can export each part individually by selecting the specific components or parts you want to export. Make sure you set up the optimization task in a way that allows for the preservation of the distinct parts during the optimization process.
Hi Engr. Tufail, thank you for your response. All three parts of my assembly were defined as separate parts when running topology optimization on my assembly and they were still merged, showing only 1 part. Also, the job is set up so that it doesn't affect the areas where these 3 parts intersect. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks again!
