The purpose of the study is to look into the possibility of reduced waste generation and also the possibility of creating awareness for people to adopt a lifestyle change geared towards achieving minimal quantities of waste generation, which is sent to waste dumps or landfills. The problems associated with higher quantities of waste generation are poor knowledge of waste best practices, attitude towards waste and practice of waste minimization.

You can get some of these data from government records for the XYZ area, and definitely you are adopting a survey research, cross-section of defined household type. And, for which you will determine data types you are collecting and purpose -likely benefits/significance as well as application of the analysis, description given by data distribution,design questionaires, analysis tools and other inferences. I would strongly suggest you meet with your colleagues in school, brainstorm on the project, nature of study, particular purpose and contributions you wish to make, then the data type to be collected, sample size and possible design choices. Look for similar research from your department library, and online journal for your discipline .. follow previous findings and method which you can extend .... Good luck
