Public Statement on Intellectual Merit
Recently, Mr. Ray Kurzweil publicly stated that humanity will be able to transcend its finitude through artificial intelligence and nanotechnology. While this thesis has been presented as groundbreaking, I respectfully point out that this idea was previously formulated in my published works with Atena Editora and Generis Publishing, where I argue —from the framework of the Philosophy of the Whole and Autosimilarity— that the human being can transcend ontological finitude through technological convergence, particularly via AI and nanotechnology.
This concept is not peripheral but central to my philosophical model and was published prior to Kurzweil’s statement. Therefore, I call upon the academic and editorial communities to recognize this intellectual merit, in defense of Latin American philosophical authorship and epistemic justice.
Philosophy is also anticipation. And when thinking from the Global South, one thinks with depth.
Honor to whom honor is due.
