Wanted - aqueous polymer solutions with reproducible viscosity behaviour.
Observation - viscosity of carboxymethyl cellulose sodium salt - CMC (Roth Art. Nr. 3333.1) depends on aging time (number of hours mixed on magnetic stirrer, but also on number of hours stored under quiet conditions). Several technical grade CMC samples are available too).
Working with Carbopol proofed even more problematic. Solutions containing seemingly clusters despite looking homogeneous, caused inconsistencies in resulting viscosity.
