Studied data are from the outcrops or cuttings from drilled well ? If you studied samples from the exploration-development wells, did you obtain any interesting results that we can apply in our petroleum researches ?

I'm now retired from Petrobras and no longer taking part in this project. This is a long-term study that has been conducted jointly by Petrobras R&D Centre (project leader: Marcia Emilia Longhim, e-mails [email protected] and [email protected]) and Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS, Porto Alegre, south Brazil), with the participation of Prof. Demir Altiner (METU, Ankara, Turkey).
I suggest you redirect your query to the project leader (Marcia Longhim). Your colleague Prof. Altiner can also provide useful information on this study.
Nevertheless, I can advance that all biostratigraphic data obtained thus far was from cores and cuttings of exploratory oil wells drilled by Petrobras in the Solimoes and Amazonas basins (Morrowan through early Desmoinesian) and in the Acre Basin (Sakmarian). The three basins are located in the Amazonian region of northern Brazil.

The forams are very important in the petroleum industry. In the Gulf of Mexico is aplicable for dating sequences and know the paleobathymetry and paleocology related with stratigraphic sequences. In this manner we can determine the best estimation about the sedimentary models and propose reservoirs.
