Hi Community,

This is my first time posting anything here.

Additionally, yesterday was my first time measuring TEM, and immediately something peculiar was occurring. And neither the tech helping me, or the internet seemed to provide an answer to this oddity. ( the tech did tell me this wasn’t the first time to see it happen)

What happened:

At some point, the images started to display consistently occurring white dots,. (see attached images)

The dots seem slightly ordered, but are far from a perfect pattern. However, de dots always remained in the same position, even when changing magnification or sample position. (see images)

My guess it may be a detector artefact, given the position and magnification do not have an effect on the position, but I don't know why or how.

Would anybody know what the cause for this organized noise could be?

I am interested both from an imaging improvement perspective as well as a general curiosity.

Cheers,

Lotte
