we used chloroform and methanol (2:1) to extract the lipids from liver tissue.. however, my question is how can we recover the cholesterol (lipids) after drying with vacuum/nitrogen stream. is there any detergent or something to recover the dried lipids.
Hi, in our lab we use a 2% triton x100 solution for resolving the lipids after the extraction.

centrifuged teh samples at 4000 RPM, 18 °C, for 5 minutes, after which the upper phase need to be removed to pre-weighed evaporation tubes using glass Pasteur pipettes. One millilitre of hexane to be added to the centrifuge bottle and centrifugation need to repeated. Evaporation tubes will be reweighed and the amounts of fat extracted will be calculated. Another 0.5 ml hexane will be added into the evaporation tubes, rinsed and transferred to the small glass tube. T
