I'm starting research on wear experiments of steel composites. My samples are 6 mm diameter and 3mm tall, which requires an epoxy to mount onto a pin to later mount into the wear tester. Anybody have any recommendations on high shear strength epoxies or strategies for the sample to be able to withstand not only 5 kgf normal force as well as high shear strength?

Regarding the POD test, you may switch the pin and disk materials. As long as the specimen and the counterpart remain fixed and do not undergo material degradation during the test, the procedure should be valid.
For example, if you are investigating an alumina pin sliding on a steel disk, you could perform the test with an alumina disk and a steel pin instead. This should yield comparable results.
