Recommendations for good fused-disc XRF texts?

Hi,

I've not asked a question before, but hopefully someone can help.

I am interested in the history, if you will, of whole-rock fused-disc/bead XRF. Does anyone know of any texts that cover the intricacies of the method?

I have used the technique quite a lot in my PhD so far and have noticed it is sometimes treated as a bit of a black-box technique. So I am mostly wanting to know how the method was developed, what the data transformation and reduction steps are, and what the factors that actually impact data quality are.

If there are more general texts that describe other whole-rock geochemical analysis techniques in detail as well I am happy to have those recommendations too.
