Dear Colleagues,

I am serving as a Guest Editor for Horticulturae's Special Issue on "Recent Advances in the Postharvest and Processing Technologies of Horticultural Crops: New Perspectives and Applications."

I am inviting submissions for this special issue, and you can find more information and submit your work at: https://www.mdpi.com/journal/horticulturae/special_issues/7K44YY76HX.

This Special Issue aims to showcase the latest developments in postharvest practices, focusing on the handling, transportation, and temperature control of crops after harvest. It also encompasses pre-processing and storage technology, evaluating the suitability of varieties for storage and processing, quality requirements, logistic solutions, and measures for longer preservation of horticultural crops post-harvest.

Horticultural products are highly perishable, and it is crucial to explore strategies and technological advancements to minimize postharvest losses. This includes identifying more resistant fruit and vegetable varieties, implementing integrated crop management systems, and adopting effective postharvest handling practices to maintain quality and safety. The future trends are towards market-oriented systems where scientists and industry work together to address horticulture product loss throughout the supply chain. Additionally, fruit and vegetable processing plays a critical role in meeting consumer needs year-round, but it is essential to optimize processing technology to preserve the nutritional value of the produce.
