For quite some time now, I have been preoccupied with the question of ranking scientific book publishers. Without a doubt, the quest for reliable measures of publisher reputation has increased in recent years, particularly among researchers in the social sciences and humanities, who still primarily publish books rather than journal articles. This question is not trivial and is of great importance for their future scientific careers.
In addition to the conventional metrics often used in literature, such as the Book Citation Index, the Spanish CSIC conducted a comprehensive survey of the opinions of members of the Spanish scientific community on book publishers over many years. This resulted in a ranking from the perspective of the Spanish scientific community. Unfortunately, this ranking has now been discontinued, and hackers have taken over the website that published the results, meaning that even the older results are no longer available. The link to the hacked website is:

Due to the limited number of products from different publishers included in the Book Citation Index of the WOS, statements based on the Book Citation Index are not very meaningful: how can you judge the reputation of a scientific publisher when only around 100–200 books are included in the index, when a publisher like Oxford UP, Nova Science, Routledge, Springer, publishes thousands of titles per year?
A comprehensive and methodologically sound 2018 ranking by Spanish bibliometric experts, combining various measures, is still available on the website:

Colleagues concerned with this issue may also wish to refer to the very recent Ceres Institute ranking at the University of Rotterdam, which uses the Google Scholar citation intensity of hundreds of publishers.

In future research, I will address these questions and compare the results statistically. My question now is: Does anyone have a better idea?
