Can anyone please give me a link to the actual scales or questionnaires used to measure perception of mental illness or the opinions of mental illness scale. Whenever I search them all that seems to be coming up is other papers/articles that have used similar things to do their research. I am currently studying psychology and hoping to complete my dissertation next year which is about how stereotypes of criminals and perception of mental health effect fear of crime. Thankyou
There are a number of scales for measuring stigma. I would check out March 2007 Volume 190, 2007 of the British Journal of Psychiatry, pp. 248-254. There are many other scales that examine the perceptions of mental illness using the concept of stigma. I would also check the research by Bruce G. Link on this specific subject.
Anybody who has used an established scale should have cited it in the methods section of their paper. That is the best place to look. Many scales will have been published in the original (cited) work, and you can often construct them from the details given in the paper. So keep on Googling and check the Methods sections of what you find.
