My doctorate is a cross-cultural study between Spain and Japan. That is why my colleagues and I are adapting to Japanese the ICQ-15, which is a questionnaire that evaluates communication. It is very short, only 15 items, so it will take less than 2 min to fill it.
It would need Japanese population to fill it. It only requires participants to be between the ages of 18 and 40.

do u mean translating the questionnaire from englsn or spanish? to japanese? what would "adapting" it involve? for many years i was conducting research with spanish speakers in US and often needed questionnaires in spanish. be careful with translation for research purposes, especially questionnaires, as it will often yield surprising, conflicting or strange results. language reflects and is, very cultural and as cultures differ in many ways, including communication, this would be a risky, tricky and at worse problematic undertaking.
my most memorable instance was when the spanish speakers were all rated as "liars' and "lying", based on several question; the only one of these i can remember is this item '" i love all children"-- they all responded "yes" which was considered, interpreted as a "lie"

if u mean by "automatic' google translator-- that is the worst-- bad for anyone so absolutely not for research--if by "automatic translator" means something else pray tell what? however as an interpreter and translator i can say any automatic has to be very poor; context is so important in communication anytime, more so in intercultural and much more so for research (and any scientific purpose.
