Has anyone encountered data collection for systematic reviews where in some studies values are given like this: < 0.1 or less than 0.1. In such situations what do you do and what is recommended?
1. Do not add these values
2. add the same value after removing
I would contact the corresponding author for the article reporting the findings and ask for the specific data you need. If the study is less than 10 or so years old, you have a decent chance of obtaining that data. Be sure to explain to the author what you are doing and why you need the data you want. Be sure to thank the author for his/her efforts.
@Gordon thankyou very much for your reply. This would surely help with missing data, but how to to handle data which is sometimes reported by labs as such for eg TSH level
