Hello, i am sending protein sample for LC-MS analysis for the first time, can you suggest how to proper pack it to maintain a 4 degree Celsius medium.
Two choices have been given either DRY ICE or thermal insulator container packed with ice
Can you suggest how much dry ice would be needed so that sample dont get denatured
Or insulated container will be good for it ?
You don't need dry ice to maintain 4 C. Use ice packs (not frozen water ice) inside an insulated foam box to ship your samples overnight. Make sure your samples arrive the next day and someone will open the package and store the samples in their fridge upon arrival.
I agree with Dr. Jaderson, use ice packs for delivery. Although temperature doesn't have to be strictly 4C dry peptides can be at RT for a few hours in my experience
1. Vacuumed freeze-dried the protein sample in Protein Lo-Bind microcentrifuge tube.
2. Wrap securely each Prot Lo-Bind tube with ice packs commercially available.
3. Store in a polystyrene container.
4. Freeze-dried peptides are stable for up to 7 - 14 days in +4 (conventional commercial fridge) and up to 30 days in -20 (conventional commercial fridge).
5. Upon arriving at the destination, extract out the peptide sample and keep in a +4 condition (conventional commercial fridge). Strongly advise to do so.
