From the sounds of it, based on the links you provided it sounds a lot like emergy ecology (yes, emergy not energy). Here is a link discussing Emergy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergy). I am sure there are several research groups out there, but the only person that I have heard of doing this type of research is Mark Brown at the University of Florida (http://www.ees.essie.ufl.edu/homepp/brown/index.shtml). I am not sure why you ask this question, if you already have links to sites that supposedly tell you all about what you wanted to know, even though the links all lead to the same source, which does not appear terribly reliable. If this really were an "emerging field", why are there no papers in refereed journals? It sounds to me like an "emerging field" that will disappear a quickly as it emerged.
I think so, it is an emerging field that will disappear quickly, and i ask this question to evaluate scientists acquaintance with this field, the book is not accessible for me. I ask this question to find any body that works in this field, and it seems there is no body or i ask my question in wrong place.
I don't know if you can call it an emerging field...its been around, morphed into other fields of study and isolated to a very small group of researchers for sometime. Since its so small it doesn't get a lot of "press".
Most likely it will remain a relatively small field of study.

I arrived to this old post while searching the web for "quantum ecology". My curiosity started with a recent paper by Philip Ball in the New Scientist:

Back searching from this paper I found Ball's 2011 paper:

And also this more recent paper (2013):

OK they talk about "quantum biology" not "quantum ecology". But at least Lambert's 2013 paper seems to indicate that some kind of quantum effects may play a role in biology (in photosynthesis in plants, and in magnetoreception in birds, for instance). So as Lambert et al. put it: "a variety of organisms may harness some of the unique features of quantum mechanics to gain a biological advantage". And if this is found correct, then quantum biology may have ecological effects.
There are lots of "if" but I consider that this discussion may be of interest. Does anyone want to take it back and exchange some opinions around these new concepts?
