hi everyone ! I have conducted a qualitative test using ammonium chloride on my crude mangosteen leaves extract following protocol from this :
https://www.mdpi.com/2227-9717/7/7/468
ive extracted my crude using 3 different solvent - hexane , ethyl acetate and methanol since I have to make an aqueous extract only the methanol crude was able to dissolve in water. when I made made an aqueous extract , it had some solutes so I first filter it out with filter paper then with the syringe.
ive made a 2N HCl (from 30% HCL ) and ammonia (37%) as per protocol .
when I added HCl to the filtered aqueous extract , there was no color change but when I added ammonium solution the color turned pink and it even had precipitation. according, to the protocol they only mentioned of color change not precipitation.
im not sure if what I did is correct , please help me see the attached images and let me know
thanks!!
