Hai.. im curently doing study on mathematical resilience among success student. i am thinking to use survey to select the participant that has gain success from failure and in depth interview to the selcted student that obligate the criteria. But im confuse either this research is called a qualitative or mixed method study?

This research answers the question of how and the possible causes for a particular phenomenon to occur, instead of answering how often it occurs. Therefore, I think your work is Qualitative approach.

It sounds like you want to begin with quantitative data that will help you select the participants for your in-depth interviews. This could be considered a form of qualitatively driven mixed methods, because your primary method is qualitative (quant --> QUAL).

i almost have a problem in the issue. i started by research by interview to collect data. the second step was using TOPSIS technique and interpretive Structural modeling in order to show the priorities and the modeling of strategies. really don`t know weather the paradigm is mixed or qualitative?
My impression is that interpretive structural modeling is a qualitative technique, so if the initial research interview was quantitative, this would probably be QUANT --> qual. If so, this is known an explanatory sequential design in mixed methods.
