I just ran a western blot and set up the transfer correctly with correct orientation of the gel and the membrane, however, the ladder did not transfer onto the PVDF membrane and the membrane itself had black stuff on it. What could have caused that black stuff? When I looked at it against a light, the membrane looked transparent where the black was.
