Can someone help me with my question?
I want to publish the results of our work once with a Marketing Approach in one Journal ( without Review)
and second time with more scientific Details in a Scientific Journal, it may happen that I use some parts of the first one in the second paper ( I mean copy it)
is it a Problem?
Plaigiarism software easily find out the copyied articles... So u must not submit the same articles to two journal's... This is my kind suggestion for u....
As Nanda mentions, plaigiarism software will detect the parts of the paper that you are thinking of copying. However, your main concern, as researcher, should not be with plaigiarism software; rather you should ideally be more concerned with ethics of publication. You should not split your research into parts just for the sake of increasing the number of publications.
Splitting the same research into parts that would form one meaningful manuscript is known as “salami publication” or “salami slicing”. This is generally ethically not acceptable, unless you have strong justifications for that kind of slicing. For example, one reason is that your readers may not understand the significance of your work if the results are scattered in multiple papers.
Thank you all to spend time to answer my question, but I do not want to split my Research to have more publication, the Point is in my Company they want to publish our data very fast and also they want to have scientific paper as well, scientific papers have Review process which are taking too Long, therefore they asked me if it is possible, first publish our results shortly in Kind of Journal that we can publish by paying them and then into scientific Journal,
I have the same answer to my question, that it is wrong, but I have to convince my People with a right answer.
Some peer review publications have an "express" payment system to publish online. The reviewers only say yes or no to your work.
Dr Saeedeh, thanks for clarifying your question. You situation appear to be simmilar to what our professors have for a long time been doing-sending articles which already appear in Conference Proceedings to a journal for publication as a way of upgrading it. Hence, in my view, this should be possible.
I think it can be done ethically, under some condition.
If the first publication is purely divulgative, meant to reach a broader, less educated or interested public (that is what I suppose is the "marketing approach") it could well indicate it is a "preview" based on data that will be published later for those interested in delving deeper into the subject.
As for plagiarism, couldn't you simply use citations to the original unpublished work?
It's not uncommon to cite work that is still under the publishing process.
In this way the "real deal" remains the second, more scientifically sound publication and, to some extent, you are publishing it only once.
I believe that addressing the same concept even with different approaches still constitutes one article. Academic journals ask authors specifically whether or not the article is being offered to another journal when being submitted. If so, they will reject it out of hand. Avoid playing games with legitimate academic journals. Always behave ethically.
I think it's not proper unless you are talking about different sets of results with different positioning of the papers.
