Has anyone observed any oligomeric protein(s) captured in transition state between the two oligomeric state of the protein in Gel filtration chromatography? The protein has history of dimer and tetramer existence. What I observed in my GFC experiment was that the protein was eluted in trimeric form. And Yes! the protein can't exist in nature with trimeric form. Other group's has also shown similar observation in AUC experiment. But what is surprising to me is the GFC experiment which shows similar observation. I would be really grateful if someone educate me about my naive observation.
