Generally, when we submit a paper to a journal, we have to confirm that "This article has not been published or accepted or not under consideration by any journal". This is illegal to submit to more than one journal at a single time.
I have submitted a paper on July, 2010. After 1 month, I got reviewer's comment (minor corrections). I resubmitted.... No response. I mailed several times to editor, only once he replied "authors will be contacted soon". It is after 8 months of submission, but no decision.
Anyone can suggest me please, what I should do?
usually they take lots of time so just be with patience and ask them the status of ur article so that u can send it to some other.
Give them a term, reasonable time frame. It is your work and nobody can sit one it forever to allow eventually others to publish similar work.
Time is an important factor to be the first.
Tell them: " if no response from you will be received within... 3 month, please consider this text as withdrawal of my article that entitles me to submit to a more operative Journal."
Researchers must take a critical position, we are submitting an article, the result of heavy work, we are not submitting ourselves.

Thanks Dr. Adrian Toader-Williams for your opinion. At last (after 10 months of submission), they accepted and online published my paper.
Ofcourse, we cannot wait for such a long time to get 1st editorial decision in this internet age. I think, it was my fault-- I should choose the journal properly. Usually I prefer Elsevier/ Springerlink journals----- this submission was a mistake. Hope, I shall never do this again.
Thanks Ms Ambika Desingu for your opinion. Certainly we should wait to get decision, because it may require some times.... but not more than 6 months. There are many journals which finish the review & evaluation process very quickly. Last year 'Biochemical Biophysical research Communication' journal has accepted and published one of our paper just after 8 days of submission!!!
can you tell us the name of the Journal so... we can stay away from it or TELL THEM TO WAKE UP...
