We have the occasion to bid for some LC-MS systems, but I have no idea of list rpice of the systems.One is a Sciex Triple Quad 6500 with an Agilent MS-40+ vacuum pumps, a shimadzu LC system with Prominence series UHPLC unit .
The other is a top line Waters SYNAPT G2-Si High Definition Mass Spectrometry with a Acquity UPLS system. If someone could give me some advise on prices, that would be very helpful

assume in principle that you can negotiate up to 25% of the new price as a discount. Depends of course on the negotiating skills of the purchasing department. The manufacturers howl, but still earn enough money with them.

If you contact the company directly, they will be glad to tell you. My advice is to pick the most sensitive instrument available so you can dilute the sample to minimize matrix effect. This will go a long way for your future method. If you can afford the Q-ToF, it will do target and non-target analysis. These day the sensitivity is about the same. I generally agree with Dr. Narong. Having a high mass resolution instrument gives you the advantage of being able to perform qualitative/discovery and quantitative experiments on the same platform. As for the pricing information, all vendors work with individual customers to understand the short-term and long-term needs and will be able to provide a sizable discount on the list price.

Price is one factor. You need to get a feel for what you actually need, ease of use, quality, support, and training. Talk to as many people as you can about the various instruments. If you are going to buy used which is what it appears you are doing, who is going to work on it? Who supports the combination of Sciex, Agilent, and Shimadzu?
