I have quite an absurd issue. for the information:

1) I have a cell line (K), that i have seen in literature being used as a negative control for my protein (P). However, for me the cell line express protein and all of the cells are expressing proteins..

Now the issue is:

1) I have confirmed using 3 different antibodies

2) Confirmed through Immunofluorescence.

3) Cell line shown mRNA expression.

Moreover, I have bought the cell line again and the results are same. is it possible that something (like medium or FBS is inducing the expression of the protein in my lab). what issues can i face while publishing the paper as literature says that there is no expression of the protein in the cell line.

PS: The cell line is non-adherent, so I am not using any dissociation agent that can damage the cells. and the protein is membranous. Although, I am fixing cells using 70% ethanol for FACS, still qPCR expression (Ct value 28) and IF are a question.. in IF I can see clearly membranous expression of the protein, so that does mean specificity..
