How to prepare 100 mg/l total alkalinity water? Is it just simply add 1000 g CaCO3 to 10 liters of distilled water? And how if we use CaMg(CO3)2, CaO, or Ca(OH)2?
Alakalinity is generally present in the form of HCO3- or CO32- in water, which expressed in terms of mg/L (as CaCO3). So if you want to prepare 100 mg/L of total alkalinity, add the equivalent weight of NaCO3 or NaHCO3 in water.
For example: The equivalent weight of CaCO3 is 50. Therefore, for 100 mg/L alkalinity, you have to add 2 milli eqivalents of either Na2CO3 or NaHCO3 in water.
