I have water quality and production data of 149 ponds rearing L. vannamei. Each pond has weekly water quality data (pH, nitrite, ammonia, etc.) for 14 weeks and productio data (harvest quantity, feed conversion ratio and shrimp size). I want to analyze how water quality and its fluctuation affect production. What data transformation have to be done and what statistic tool can be used?
For the measurement of pH : Digital pH meter
Ammonia and nitrite/ nitrate : Spectro photometer.
These instruments easily available, economically viable, in portable size also and easy to take measurements.

My research was ex post facto. I have had the data of water quality and production parameter of shrimp culture. The water quality parameter including weekly pH, salinity, NO2-N, and TAN; where production including harvest weight, shrimp size and feed conversion ratio (FCR). I have analyzed the correlation (Pearson) between them, and seemed there was no parameter that significantly correlated. Colleagues said that it might be the water quality fluctuation that affected the harvest weight, shrimp size and FCR. Does it seem make sense? I need suggestion how to measure the fluctuations in water quality between weeks of observation (data transformation etc.).

First of all, before data collection you should design your statistic plan and recognize each parameters and relation of them. For example maybe One- way ANOVA could be suitable plan for your study.

I would try using principal component analysis (PCA). Seeing as you have many water quality factors, it will tell you which of these affect your production parameters. It's an exploratory technique that will show correlations between several different parameters that interact together.
