While treating preferred orientation for powder data say using March-Dollase function, we need to find the plane which is affected from texture. As per my understanding suppose (022) reflection is affected, we need to consider the crystallographic direction {011}. Is it right?
Also, when we need to consider ratios of intensities of planes whose orientations are preferred?
For Laue indices please do not use parenthesis in order to differentiate Laue indices (reciprocal lattice points or reflections) and Miller indices. This means: 022 reflection, but {011} lattice plane.
BTW: {011} is a reciprocal lattice direction...or a lattice plane. For March-Dollase you need to be careful. Plate-shaped crystals need to be desccribed by the reciprocal lattice vector {hkl} (since it is a plane :-) ) whereas needle-shaped crystals are characterized by their axis which is a lattice vector . Both are - except for cubic crystals and some specific driections in other crystal systems - not identical, what you certainly know, but here it is critical!
