The project entitled "Studies on the activation mechanisms of MMP-2 and ADAM17: identification of regulatory proteins, oxidant production pathways, epigenetics and proteolytic targets" funded by FAPESP offers a Post-doctoral scholarship for up to 2 years starting immediately. Applications are now open for candidates and immediate selection.

The selected candidate must have a PhD degree, good background in cardiovascular pathology, good knowledge on general pathology and cardiovascular disease. The candidate must have wide experience in using techniques such as immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, optical and electron microscopy techniques, as well as in protein purification, chromatographic and N-proteomic techniques. It is also desirable that the candidate shows evidence of previous training in methods used to analize matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) activity. This project will require the analysis of MMP-2 enzyme activity, since the design will involve MMP-2 analysis in tissues, in addition to other usual biochemical methods including Western blotting, zymography, in situ zymography and fluorimetry.

It is fundamental that the candidate be fluent in English and work easily with a team.

Interested candidates must send an email to Profa. Dra. Raquel F. Gerlach ([email protected]), coordinator of this project, no later than November 22nd, 2017 with:

1) A letter of interest explaining the motivation of the candidate for this position.

2) a text explaining how the previous training of the candidate corresponds to the profile described above.

3) an updated Curriculum Vitae.
