I am trouble shooting a malachite green ATPase assay using a kit from Sigma (MAK307) for a cytosolic protein that converts ATP --> ADP + Pi and am wondering what cheap + commercially available protein I could use as a positive control. I am running the assay at pH 7.5 and would prefer an enzyme that does not convert ADP --> AMP + Pi in case my ATP stock is not good.

The Malachite Green assay is an endpoint assay, due to the harsh chemical conditions provided by the reagent. As such, you don't need a protein/enzyme as a positive control. Sodium or potassium phosphate are suitable as a stand-in for hydrolyzed ATP.
