I have been struggling for over a month, I am doing a project based on antenna array for satellite communications, and I have to present my results, where I didnt have a problem until I had to find the polarization. I have seen in many sites where the axial takes part, talkin to my mentor. he then advised me the 1d plot of the axial ratio was not actually giving really any information regardi g what i wanted to explain. I want to know how to find the polarization of the antenna, is it using the axial ratio, is it using the crosspolar or copolar. a brief explaination of the whole thing will be nice. I know what linear a circular polarization are. I just dont know on how to interpret which one is which in 2d and 3d plots .
Polarization can be infered from the current distribution and axial ratio. If the surface current is uniform on the patch then it mean linear polarisation and if takes a turn I.e. especially close to the patch edges then it is circular polarized. From axial ratio it is 40 dB and more for linear polarised and 3 dB and less for circular polarization

I will attach a picture of my result, i think its linear but is it because you can the dB at 40 or because is uniform.

Greetings, you can follow either surface current distribution or axial ratio to infer the polarization of your antenna designed. As the complexity of the antenna increases (antenna with more slots and so on) it becomes quite difficult to follow the surface current lines. So, from axial ratio you can easily conclude the polarization of antenna designed since it provides with numerical results say 40 dB or 3 dB. The image you have attached is a conventional patch antenna with coaxial probe feed, so the polarization of antenna is linear only.
Mira las flechitas del campo eléctrico. En función de hacia donde apunten sabrás la polarización.
Pon un field monitor de campo eléctrico claro, y miralo con "arrows", ahí saldrás de dudas.
