Most life sciences/medical journals have very impact factors while journals in the field of mathematics and physical sciences have low to moderate impact factors. This does not mean that extremely high class work published in such journals is inferior to the work published in life sciences journal. I agree with Peter that "The impact of your work is what matters" among the scientific community.
