firstly i prepare a 83 ml ethanol + 17 ml water solution and add HA nano particles (5g/L) obtained by wet chemical method. and sonicated this suspension for 1 hour. i have used a platinum counter electrode and a Ti plate as working electrode, and adjusted the distance between them to 15mm. finally applied constan 30V electric field. (during deposition magnetic agitation of 200rpm have been applied) after 2 hours any coating have been deposited.
Could anyone please help me?
it is much better to use amorphous HA (to be easily degraded in the solution) and to adjust the pH of the solution during deposition to be basic (9-13).
I would suggest stop inventing any wheels and, for the beginning, look for scientific papers on electrophoretic deposition of hydroxyapatite, choose one, which is closest to your experimental conditions, and simply reproduce the experiment. After succeeding with this, you should start making small changes in the experimental procedure in the direction of your current conditions.
Because in EPD the movement of charged particles in electrical field forms the coating layer, you may check the zeta potential of your suspension. the high viscosity also causes problems in particle movements.
you can not use water as the liquid medium, because the application of a voltage to water causes the evolution of hydrogen and oxygen gases at the electrodes which could adversely affect the quality of the deposits formed. the fragment of water in your suspension may also causes the problem.
