Please !! Help me to make difference when a variable has mediating role?

Dear colleagues,

I want to know after regression between different dependant and independant variables, can we reccognize mediating variables ? or this depends on our choosen conceptual model?

I mean, when our conceptual model does not contain mediating variable(s), is it possible to know (detect) them when making DATA Analysis ? and how ?

A mediating role of a variable can only be confirmed after hypothesing it in the model using a statistical analysis. The findings may vary based on the data used.
