I am looking for journal articles, essays, or web links that talks about how leadership style can be influenced by the gender (male/female) of the workforce being led. Please does anyone have any material that can help?
Interesting proposition. Work by Van Engen, van der Leenden & Willemsen (2001) could provide some insights here, as they focus on workforce context (feminine vs. masculine). Gardiner & Tiggemann (1999) also adress similar issues in relation to work stress.
The following open access journal can help you to find related articles on your topic. One consideration that affects leadership style in workforce regardless of gender is the leader's cultural sensitivity because of the cultural diversity that exists in the workplace that is becoming more global with the advancement in technology.
Best regards,
Debra

The work you are looking at falls into a cross section between work done on followership in organisations, and gender and leadership. I would advise familiarising yourself with research by scholars in leadership and gender (Alice Eagly is a good place to start). Next there are some works on followership and its role on leadership (attached are a few samples in relation to authentic leadership).
Hope this helps!
