The new eco-friendly technologies for production of bio fertilizers will overcome the shortcomings of the conventional chemical-based farming which dominates at present. The implementation of technologies shows positive influence on both soil sustainability and plant growth. They support and gradually improve soil fertility by fixing atmospheric nitrogen. The government of India has been trying to promote an improved practice involving use of bio-fertilizers along with fertilizers .Bio fertilizers manufactured in India are mostly carrier based, using lignite or charcoal as carriers. bio fertilizers have emerged as a highly alternative to chemical fertilizers due to their eco-friendly, easy to apply, non-toxic and cost effective nature. In spite of nearly three decades of existence of bio fertilizers in India supported by central and state government, the adoption level of bio fertilizers by farmers remained low, the demand of Bi fertilizers is not satisfactory. Sailing of Bio fertilizers is conditional by farmer , low adaptation by farmers. . Biological based product are most advanced biotechnology necessary to support developing organic agriculture sustainable agriculture, green agriculture and non-pollution agriculture.
1. Bio fertilizers are organisms that enrich the nutrient quality of soil. The main sources of bio fertilizers are bacteria, fungi and cynobacteria (blue-green algae)
2. Different types of bio fertilizers Rhizobium Azotobacter Azospirillum Cyanobacteria Azolla Phosphate solubilizing microorganisms (PSM) AM fungi
3. They help to get high yield of crops by making the soil rich with nutrients and useful microorganisms necessary for the growth of the plants. Biofertilizers have replaced the chemical fertilizers, as chemical fertilizers are not beneficial for the plants
To popularize and implement more bio fertilizers, there is a need of development of new technologies as follows:
1. Correct soil treatment
2. Preparation of bacterial inoculants is supported by implementation of a new process based
3. Another interesting new technology is the exploitation of the natural production of bacterial biofilms
4. Technologies used for the production of living hybrid materials could be a new frontier in the development of carriers for PGPMs
5. The application of bio-nanotechnology could also provide new avenues for the development of carrier-based microbial inoculants
6. Water-in-oil emulsions appear to be a good, yet underutilized, method for storing and delivering microorganisms through liquid formulations.
