The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scoring system assesses sleep quality over a one-month period. It consists of 19 self-rated items grouped into seven components:
Subjective Sleep Quality
Sleep Latency (time taken to fall asleep)
Sleep Duration
Sleep Efficiency (time asleep vs. time in bed)
Sleep Disturbances
Use of Sleep Medication
Daytime Dysfunction
Each component is scored from 0 (no difficulty) to 3 (severe difficulty).
The component scores are summed to yield a global score ranging from 0 to 21.
