You need to contact the "Environmental Health & Safety" folks at your university. They can give you a specific protocol to follow.
You need to have this set up BEFORE you create any hazardous waste.
Talk to your PI and/or lab manager - they might already have this set up for your lab.
Katie A S Burnette Thank you for your response! My PI answered me already but I just curious how other labs dispose theirs as well. I am just generating/collecting if there is anything different or similar across the board.
My advice: follow the procedure for the safety rules at your university. It does not matter what other labs or other universities do, your EH&S folks set the expectations for your worksite. If the expectations feel unsafe or you do not feel like you have enough training to follow them, then it is reasonable for you to insist on the SOPs and documented trainings.
