I am doing qualitative study, and interview will be my main approach to gather data collection. Observation and document analysis would be my triangulation.

My supervisor said that observation and document analysis are not necessary to be piloted, but still need to find ways in order enable me to get the data to answer the research questions.

So, I am wondering, if observation and document analysis are not necessary to be piloted, is there any ways to test other than pilot study?

And, is it ethically wrong to not conduct a pilot study on the research instruments approach that used for triangulation only?
