In my view, it is good to measure morphological changes during your experiment. As we firstly observe the differences from wild type and transgenic type  is morphology, and then we go further steps. So I think morphology is quite important to do.

I think that is important both evaluations : phenotypic or morphological changes and biochemical evidences. They add information that may explain the phenomenons that occur under abiotic stress condition, specially when two materials , wild type and transgenic lines, are compared.
