With using high Cetane number of Gasoil fuel for Diesel engines, which prevents of Knocking occurrence during engine operation. And by inspecting combustion products using ORSAT analysis or GC analysis, by which we could know if the engine runs at rich or weak Air/Fuel Mixture. Where the combustion energy will be as high as the mixture is 1.09 for the equivalence ratio, so the engine performance will be very good.
A diesel process is different from a otto process (gasoline engine) in many ways. The diesel process is ideally a constant pressure combustion process where as the otto process is ideally a constant volume combustion process. The two fuels have different characteristics that support these processes. In simple terms gasoline burns fast, diesel burns slow. In practical terms the diesel engine operates with changing air-fuel-ratios (AFR) to changing load. A diesel engine takes contrary to the gasoline engine, as much air as it can get and injects only the amount of fuel needed for the specific load. Therefore the AFR is most of the driving time over-stochiometric. Only during acceleration or high load it operates near stochiometry and this is the operating point where particles (unburned diesel) is formed and seen in the combustion products. The gasoline engine must operate close to stochiometry i.e. with precisely balanced and often premixed amounts of air and fuel. The injection timing of diesel in a diesel engine correlates to the ignition timing of gasoline in an otto engine. A well working diesel engine has optimal air flow and the correct injection timing and operates at its peak torque. (Correct fuel, lubricants and mechanical balance are obvious preconditions)
First of all, the performance of engine is mainly depends on the the type of used fules. If good fuel is introducing, the performance of engine would be greater. Moreover, this affects other parameters, like exhaust emissions, Therefore, the performance if engine affected by the type pf fuels
