The journal recently emailed me requesting I help find reviewers to a paper with the title "Pollution and heart disease: Evidence from the UK biobank", is there anyone here qualified willing to assist or contacts?
I am interested in environmental health and have experience in reviewing manuscripts related to pollution and cardiovascular disease. While I may be able to assist, it would also be helpful to reach out to specialized researchers in environmental epidemiology and public health. I recommend contacting colleagues with expertise in air pollution, toxicology, and biostatistics. If needed, I can help connect or recommend qualified reviewers.
Abstract: : Fine particulate matter (PM2.5), consists of ultra-fine particles ≤ 2.5 micrometers in diameter, originating from combustion engines, industrial activities and natural emissions. These particles significantly influence cardiovascular health, with strong evidence linking it to increased morbidity and mortality. We used a dataset from the United Kingdom Biobank to study the connection between exposure to PM2.5 and six adverse health outcomes with logistic regression. Through logistic models, the findings indicate a clear association between particulate matter and five of the six studied conditions, of which the strongest evidence was derived for stroke, heart attack and angina disease. It was furthermore proven that pollution levels were above the World Health Organization’s levels for the entire studied population. This underscores the urgent need to reduce emissions worldwide
