Hi. I work with PC12 cells. I see some other irregularly shaped particles, much smaller than PC12 in my culture. You can see the dark spots in 10X image, the other picture was taken at 20X magnification.
Does anyone have any idea what they are?
Hi Sara, it has been awhile since I worked with PC-12 cells. Your pictures show sub-confluent cells.
I would say that they are split too sparse, but as for contamination, I would say no. If you have a contamination, you would not see single spots. The whole media will be cloudy within 24 hrs if you had a contamination problem.
I think the dark spots are just cell fragments.
Hi, Sara. I work with PC12 for a short time. I think these dark particles could be cellular detritus . When cultures are contaminated culture medium become cloudy and this will increase with the time in culture. I suggest you to look at the behaviour of the culture for several days as cellular fragments will be eliminated after several medium changes.
