Thank you for the interesting topic of discussion.
This pandemic started in March, 2020, as declared by WHO. It is in full swing one year from that time and is being expected to go on for sometime in future. The problem with any sort of pandemic is that it influences our pockets, our wallets, our brains and hearts. This is not an exception. It will keep on spreading its tentacles for a long time.
Undoubtedly, the Pendamic negative effects are physical, mental , financial, psychological, etc. Of course, these effects are long-term, and globally spread.
Certainly, the pandemic has negatively affected all life facilities, whether health, social and economic ... We see that this effect was widespread and led to great losses at all these levels. But in fact, even if this pandemic is over, I think that how to deal with its consequences is no less difficult than how to deal it ... We also note that this disease has long-term effects even on those who have recovered from it, and we note the clear contrast of its symptoms and severity, it is in the long term, it may cause heart and lung syndromes in addition to its effect on the immune system, as it causes the loss or weakness of many senses such as smell, hearing and others as a result of damage to the specialized cells, which after replacing them with new cells need a long time for to program with nervous impulses ... In addition to that, there are studies indicating the effect of the long isolation period on the psychological state and the emergence of cases of Cabin fever, which is characterized by insomnia, anxiety, and boredom, as a man is social by nature. In my opinion, the biggest psychological problem that we will face in the future with the next generation, that they are children now, of course, isolation, distance education, and non-mixing with their peers, all of this will negatively affect their psyche, in addition to the fact that there are reports and statistical studies conducted in 81 countries that show that our total losses of the years due to premature death it is estimated at about 20.5 million years ... I think that this pandemic has changed a lot and it is impossible for the form of life after it to be the same as before.
Epidemics can cause large and widespread increases in morbidity and mortality rates, cause economic damage through multiple channels, cause changes in some individual behaviors, such as aversion caused by fear of workplaces and other public gathering places, and are a major cause of negative impacts on economic growth. Epidemics can also increase political pressure and tensions. As measures to respond to the outbreak, such as quarantine, have sparked violence and tension between countries and citizens.

Mankind has been exposed to different types of pandemics and thanks to scientists, was able to overcome many of them, coexisted with some of them, and got rid of many, and this is one of them.

Of course, pandemic effects can be long term and widespread in many respecs, economic, physical and psychological, for example. As posted in a closely related thread, the current pandemic is greatly affecting people's physical and mental health across the world. What follows can be of some help for us to deal this with problem. In this regard, it is advisable to: (1) Normalize our daily routine. It is very important to get enough sleep, eat regularly and maintain good hygiene. Yet, often people in a state of stress forget to do basic things and this further exacerbates the situation. (2) Treat yourself to something nice every day. For example, listen to your favorite song, watch your favorite movie, talk to the person who can make happy. Even in difficult situations, we can take some minutes to please anybody with something they like. (3) Communication. It is necessary to find a way to communicate, even if it is a simple phone conversation. It may be very important for a COVID-19 patient to hear the voice of another person. It doesn’t matter what the talk is about. (4) Filter the news you read. Anxiety can be caused by over-reading the news and winding yourself up. Get back to things that are simple and stable. Take a walk, breathe fresh air, consume less information and use trusted sources of information. (5) Seek help if needed. It is worth remembering that stress responses are different from an individual to another: your response is the normal response of a normal person to abnormal circumstances. Be attentive to your family, relatives and friends. For them you can be, say, their world. If following the previous recommendations, your condition does not improve, if it is difficult for you to fall asleep, if your mood does not improve and especially if you have thoughts of harming yourself or others, then you should contact a psychologist and ask for help. Sometimes a few consultations are enough for your condition to improve significantly

Of course, pandemic effects can be long term and widespread in many respects. What follows refers to a common psychological feature that often occurs in pandemic times. For example, even though I have no statistics to present, the rate of bullying behaviors at schools tends to increase during pandemics as is the case of the current pandemic. As posted in a close related thread, This increase is understandable, namely from a psychological viewpoint. While being confined, both pupils and students may accumulate stress and anxiety. When they back to schools, then they find opportunities to discharge through their bullying behaviors their accumulated stress. The victims may be their schoolmates or even their teachers. Statistics about bullying behaviors tend to not exist. First, some types of bullying may be highly sophisticated and hence difficult to be noted, let alone counted. Second, there is no one at schools to count such behaviors. What is known is that students who are victims of bullying tend, for example, to have learning difficulties. Domestic violence, which has also increasing during the current pandemic, may be considered an overt form of bullying,

Definitely, pandemic effects can be long term and widespread in many respects. What follows refers to a common psychological feature that often occurs in pandemic times and whose negative effect can endure for long. As mentioned in a closely related thread, some families lose their wifes; other ones, their husbands; and others, their sons and daughters, let alone their grandsons and granddaughters. As far as I know, psychologists across the world are doing their best to help those whose life was subject to devastating consequences.
"Pandemic effects can be long term and widespread" --- Shameemul Haque asks.
As I am a psychologist, I am fully aware that pandemics effects can be long and widespread. For example, as posted in a closely related thread, the current pandemic is giving rise to unwanted psychological consequences. In this regard, it should be mentioned that even though I have not access to official statistics regarding the number of divorces in Portugal in 2020 due to the current pandemic, that number has increased when compared to what happened in 2019. I guess that the same is the case in other countries, namely in Western countries. Psychological reasons partly explain that phenomenon. When they are confined, wifes and husbands may have little space and time to be alone, and for themselves, nor do they have time to visit their respective friends. As daily life shows, when wifes and husbands, let alone other people, have to stay together during several months, conflicts and even violence between them may arise. In the process, divorces are more likely to occur.
On a different note, there will be some positive long-term effects.
I believe, there will be new social norms in post-pandemic. Face masks will continue to be used by the general public as cultural shift, and honestly we're realizing that no one feels slighted without a handshake. This will go a long way, for a change.
The impact of the current pandemic on higher education will be long term. We will be forced to blend learning and teaching methods, libraries will continue subscribing books and articles insead of piling up hard copies. In the future, Universities will run paperless and landless.
At least some patients who have become long-haulers or long-COVID after having had infection with COVID-19 have improvement in their symptoms after getting COVID-19 vaccine.

In addition to its negative long and widespread effects on countries' economy, the current pandemic is also teaching us many positive lessons. For example, it is teaching us that we, humans, are highly vulnerable and fragile creatures. Second, it is also teaching us that if we continue to disrespect the equilibrium among the several ecosystems that our planets is made of, then unpredictable events may occur.
Indeed the effects of Covid- 19 pandemic can be devastating . it affected economy of all countries in the earth. socially, people become isolated from each other as they had to stay way from their beloved ones. Psychologically speaking, the effects are so bad as those who have the illness became stigmatized, avoided by people and their friends. more people are having "Corona syndrome" , a psychological and social condition that affect all societies manifested by feeling of boredom, laziness, sadness, loss of energy, loss of interest in social activities, tendency to stay alone.. etc.
Its effects are comprehensive starting with human health, economic, psychological, social, cultural, and not ending with manufacturing of vaccines because the Pandemic has a series of generations. It is a great battle for the humans to be or not to be.. that's the question.
That's right. The scale of the development of the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic will change as it is determined by various factors. Even if, thanks to the vaccination programs of citizens, it is possible to achieve a high level of social resistance of the population and the pandemic is over, the Coronavirus will remain and may continue to mutate and create new variants. Hence, there will be different long-term effects. As the scale of the pandemic develops, the various negative effects in terms of the health crisis, medical system, economic etc. will also gradually decrease.
Social isolation and quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic constitute a challenge for the human being who first of all fights for his life and the integrity of his family
